Twitter will remove inactive user accounts, says Musk – 5/8/2023 – Tech

Twitter will remove accounts that have been inactive for many years, the company’s CEO, Elon Musk, said on Monday (8). He stated that users of the platform will be able to see a drop in their follower count.

Per company policy, users must log into their accounts at least once every 30 days to avoid permanent removal due to prolonged inactivity.

Earlier this month, Musk “threatened” to reassign the account of NPR (National Public Radio, public radio america), from the United States, to another company, after the broadcaster stopped publishing content on its 52 official accounts in protest against a label of the social network that signals the involvement of government entities in its editorial content.

Last month, the platform removed the blue seal, which was supposed to attest to a user’s identity verification, from thousands of people, including celebrities, politicians and journalists.

The billionaire has made verification a part of Twitter’s Blue subscription, a measure he says would solve the problem of “robot” accounts on the social network.
