Twitter swaps logo for cryptocurrency symbol – 4/3/2023 – #Hashtag
[ad_1]
Twitter surprised users by replacing its logo on Monday (3). In place of the classic blue bird, the social network began to display the doge, a popular meme on the internet that is also a symbol of a cryptocurrency “darling” of Elon Musk.
The sticker, represented by a dog of the Shiba Inu breed, prints Dogecoin, a virtual currency originally created as a joke in 2013.
Musk and his companies Tesla and SpaceX are accused by an investor of creating a “pyramid scheme” that caused the price of the currency to inflate and then collapse.
The coin has been promoted by the billionaire in recent years, including on his social media profiles. He has already called the asset “the people’s crypto”. After this Monday’s change, Dogecoin recorded appreciation in its quotation.
The sticker also entered the most commented subjects on the network, with 150 thousand tweets until the afternoon of this Monday (3) and is being displayed both at the top of the Twitter website and on the loading screens, on smartphones and desktops.
There is no official statement from Twitter about the change. Shortly after the update, Musk shared a dialogue in which a follower asks him to “buy Twitter” and “change the logo to Doge”. When sharing the record, Musk says “as promised”.
