Twitter executive who slept in the office is fired – 02/27/2023 – Market

Twitter fired on Sunday (26) at least 200 employees, 10% of its workforce, according to The New York Times. Among those dismissed is executive Esther Crawford, known for her support of Elon Musk – she even posted a photo of her sleeping at the company, from working so hard.

Responsible for developing social network products, she was among the few executives who worked at the company before it was acquired by the billionaire in October.

“The worst thing anyone could think watching me go all-in on Twitter 2.0 is that my optimism or hard work was a mistake,” tweeted the head of the company’s new authenticity verification program, Twitter Blue.

She further said that she was deeply proud of the team for working amid “so much noise and chaos”.

This new round of Twitter layoffs includes product managers, big data specialists and engineers working on machine learning and platform reliability, according to the New York Times.

Sought by the AFP, Twitter did not immediately confirm the news.

The cuts occur at a time when other technology giants in the United States are doing the same, such as Amazon, Alphabet (Google’s parent company) and Meta (owner of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp).
