The blue bird of Twitter may have its days numbered. Elon Musk announced the change in the company’s logo early this Sunday (23).

“And soon we will say goodbye to the Twitter brand and, little by little, to all the little birds,” he said in his account on the social network.

The information was posted amid several other messages from Musk in which he asks users to change the color of the platform to black.

The entrepreneur says that he likes the letter X as a possible logo and says that if any Twitter user posts an X logo that the entrepreneur considers good, it could be used by the brand.

Musk did not elaborate on the possible change. Since buying Twitter in 2022 for $44 billion (today about R$210 billion), the billionaire, who also owns Tesla and SpaceX, has promoted changes to the platform.

At the time, the businessman tweeted: “The bird is free”.

Since Elon Musk bought Twitter in October last year and announced the intention to earn money with subscriptions, profiles have lost access to functions that were previously free.

Twitter limited the number of tweets seen and messages sent per day, restricted access to platform data and removed the free two-factor authentication option via SMS.

In addition, the network began to charge for the blue seal of verification and has limited the sending of messages by those who do not pay the monthly seal.

In early July, Twitter notified Meta extrajudicially after the creation of Threads, Instagram’s new social network. The document includes a threat of civil proceedings, with injunctive relief, to prevent harm. The company alleges that there was “breach of trade secrets”.

The lawyer who signs the letter, Alex Spiro, claims that Meta hired dozens of former Twitter employees with access to documents and electronic devices from the social network to develop a copy: Threads. The text does not mention names.

Meta’s director of communication published on Threads, Andy Stone, that the accusations made by Elon Musk’s social network are not supported. “Nobody on the engineering team behind Threads is a former Twitter employee.”
