Twitter started this Friday (30) to block access to public tweets from people who are not connected to the social network. In this condition, any platform link now redirects to a login page.
Elon Musk threatened to sue Microsoft in April when the Windows giant pulled the social network from its ad platform for refusing to pay fees to access Twitter’s data system. The justification for the action would be the use of unauthorized data for training artificial intelligence.
Twitter took the measure without disclosing it on its official accounts. Musk made no announcements either. The report tried to contact the company via email and received a feces emoji as an automatic response.
The social network in the Reddit forum format had also announced in April that it would start charging for access to its data delivery system, whose technical name is API.
The founder and chief executive of the platform Steve Huffman said at the time that the information contained in the social network was valuable and did not need to be delivered for free to the largest companies in the world.
Reddit is collaboratively run by volunteer administrators who were outraged by the news and responded with a boycott. Overnight, a myriad of questions and answers hosted on the platform are no longer available.
The social network board did not give in to the protest and removed the managers involved in the episode.
