The TweetDeck application began to be paid on Tuesday (15), and users of the X social network, previously called Twitter, started to be directed to a page to subscribe to the service when they tried to access it.
Social network X announced in July that TweetDeck, which allows users to monitor multiple accounts simultaneously, would only be accessible to “verified” profiles starting in August.
On Tuesday, when trying to access the tool, which is now called X Pro, users received a message requesting an annual payment of US$ 84 (R$ 418) to join the verification.
Billionaire Elon Musk, who bought Twitter last year, has embarked on a massive overhaul of the platform, cutting staff and seeking additional subscriptions and revenue for an extremely popular but flawed service.
Linda Yaccarino, the new director of X, assured last week that the platform is “close to balance” and has resumed hiring staff.
TweetDeck was launched more than a decade ago and allows the user to organize their accounts on their computer by themes, through columns.
Twitter bought the app in 2011 for $40 million.
