‘Training from Sunday to Sunday’

Protagonist of “Mar do Sertão”, Sergio Guizé told how he keeps in shape at the age of 42. The actor reveals that he started waking up at 5:30 am to train and had to change his eating habits to play the character Zé Paulino.

“When I was called to do the soap opera, 20 days before starting to record, I went on a diet and cut out gluten, lactose and alcohol to deflate a little until the premiere. To play a character in the first phase, aged 27 and , on Monday, at 37, I had to go back to training every day, from Sunday to Sunday”, he said in an interview with “Caras” magazine.

“It ends up being a relaxing moment, the sport itself is. In short, everything to have that balance and stay healthy so I can face hours of recording every day, all week, all year round. These are the pillars: physical, mental and emotional balance. the psychological”, he adds.

Focused, Guizé says that the gym has become his refuge and admits to being a very vanity man:

“I think that my vanity is very much connected with work and the desire for the character to be well, as well as my immunity, to withstand the hurdle that is to make a soap opera. When it has a great purpose, like a job, I am very focused. I consider myself a vain guy, but I wouldn’t go into a madness like that if I didn’t have a character asking me to”.

At the end of 2020, Guizé underwent a hair transplant to end his baldness.

“The hair was super natural and more luminous. I’m very happy with the whole process. It’s really worth it. I confess that it was a little scary. I imagined it would be much worse. But if I had known it was so easy, I would have done it sooner . Self-esteem is up there. It was one of the best things I’ve done in my life in my 40 years. I’m very happy with the result”, he declared at the time.

During the chat, Guizé says that he started losing hair at the age of 18 and has been undergoing treatment since then.

“I was hairy. Then I went into the war shooting, and so people wouldn’t make fun of me, I cut it, I did a topknot, that’s when I saw that a little piece was missing. I have a history of baldness in the family. I looked for a doctor and started to taking medication. For about five years, I had been doing a regular treatment, with weekly microneedling, until I decided to have the transplant”, he says, stating that the decision was a personal matter and not a professional one.
