Agreement published this Monday (11) in the Official Gazette of the Union provides that tourists will be able to travel for up to 90 days between the two countries without requesting a visa. Container with dozens of passports Reproduction The federal government made official this Monday (11) the visa exemption for Brazilian and Japanese tourists on trips of up to 90 days between the two countries. The measure comes into force on September 30, 2023 and is valid until September 29, 2026. The measure applies to all valid Brazilian passports with a chip, issued since 2011. Tourists who, for some reason, do not have passports with chip must obtain a visa in advance to enter Japan. The change does not apply to Brazilians who wish to enter Japan to work. In this case, you will still need to obtain a visa. The visa exemption for tourists is the result of an agreement made in August between Brazil and Japan based on the principle of reciprocity. Now, the measure has been published in the Official Gazette of the Union. See how to get your passport
