Tiradentes Holiday 2023: see how banks work – 04/19/2023 – Market

Banks across Brazil will not have face-to-face service this Friday (21) due to the celebration of Tiradentes Day, which is a national holiday. Even when the branches are closed, ATMs and online services will be available to customers.

This Thursday (20), service at bank branches will take place normally, with start and end times defined according to the location.

Consumption bills, such as water, electricity and telephone due on the holiday date, can be paid on the next business day, which is Monday (24). The extension also applies to payment books.

Generally, these bills come with maturities adjusted for national holidays to avoid charges for late discharge. In case of doubt about the payment deadline, the customer must call the service of the company that issued the title to confirm or negotiate the best date so as not to incur charges.

Febraban (Brazilian Federation of Banks) also recommends paying the bill in advance and, if the title has a barcode, it is possible to make an appointment at ATMs and other service channels provided by banks.
