The president of the PT, deputy Gleisi Hoffmann (PR) responded this Saturday (4) to criticism of the statements made by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) regarding the free use of public resources for the resumption of works.
In a ministerial meeting this Friday (3), Lula demanded that his ministers invest the resources allocated to the ministries in infrastructure works, and that they not create new projects beyond those that have already been proposed throughout this year. According to Hoffmann, Lula “said the obvious” and criticized the headlines that refer to the statement as “spending”.
“They want to demonize public investment, in the same way they criminalized politics. They ignore that a country is made up of people, who need to work, eat and have access to health, education, social security, access to opportunities”, wrote the parliamentarian on the X network, formerly Twitter.
Gleisi also called those who defend the concept of “austerity” “fanatics”, which according to her, “has only led to social and economic tragedies”. “Spending” is privileging interest payments and condemning the country to delay and families to hunger,” she said.
