‘There will be medical cannabis in SP through the SUS’ – 01/31/2023 – Cannabis Inc.

This Monday (30), deputy Caio França (PSB) went to Palácio dos Bandeirantes for a meeting with governor Tarcísio de Freitas. His mission was to hand deliver the petition, which runs on the web, in favor of the sanction of PL 1.180/2019. The text institutes the state policy of free provision, by the SUS (Unified Health System), of CBD (Cannabidiol, a substance derived from cannabis, with therapeutic effect and without psychoactive action). Approved by Alesp (São Paulo Legislative Assembly) at the end of December (21), it still depends on the governor’s signature to become law.

The deputy, who is one of the authors of the bill, took the time to argue about the importance of the sanction. France left the office in high spirits. So much so that he posted on the networks that “there will be cannabis medicine of the SUS”. He assured that “the governor confided that he will approve the PL 1,180”. According to França, Freitas was touched by the importance of regulation for patients, most of them refractory to other conventional treatments.

Currently, it is estimated that around 300,000 people make use of cannabis medicine in the country. It is worth remembering that a 30 ml bottle of CBD, depending on the concentration, can reach R$ 2,500 in pharmacies.
