In an interview with g1, psychiatrist Alessandra Diehl, member of the advisory board of the Brazilian Association for the Study of Alcohol and other Drugs (ABEAD), explains that the rapid absorption of alcohol, as happens in these cases, means that our body does not have enough time to metabolize the alcohol ingested. “This leads to blood alcohol levels [quantidade de álcool no sangue] faster and, consequently, more excess alcohol circulating in the bloodstream”, says Alessandra. The risk of vulnerability increases even further if “binge drinking” is practiced by a teenager. Remembering that, according to Law No. 13,106, of 2015, selling, supplying, serving, administering or delivering alcoholic beverages, even if free of charge, in any way, to children or adolescents is a crime. The penalty can range from two to four years in prison in addition to a fine.
