“In this vein, handicrafts and the creative economy are other segments that are part of this universe of job generation, jobs and income. And these segments receive from Manaus City Hall, through Manauscult, tents set up with exhibition easels and visual identification, in addition to personalized shirts, which give dignity to these micro-entrepreneurs, aiming to generate income and improve the quality of life of involved’,

affirm.

Participants in the Handicraft Showcase were selected by the Municipal Secretariat for Work, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Semtepi), a partner of Manauscult, which in this edition will also feature artisans from the Municipal Secretariat for Women and Social Assistance (Semasc).

“The handicraft to be exhibited has quality and regional appeal because it is made by people who are productive in various arts and who are in the process of resocialization. Another point is that the festival, being an inclusive event, is also offering opportunities to the original peoples with their root handicrafts and their tribal rituals, transforming the Ground Zero space of the Historic Center of Manaus, into a place of great cultural diversity, great gastronomy and much joy. This is #Sou Manaus 2023”,

Owner of one of the stands to be exhibited at the handicraft fair, artisan Ricardo Borsa, 37, said it was the second time he had participated in the event and revealed his expectations for this edition, which has an estimated audience of 500,000 people.

“My first experience was last year and it was sensational, I was surprised by everything from the structure available, the point of the tents, varied products and the acceptance of the public. At the beginning I had a little apprehension, but people not only stop to look, but actually buy. I am very happy to participate again and my expectation is that my sales will double in this edition”,

he said.

Ricardo Borsa is responsible for creating accessories such as bracelets, necklaces, rosaries and japamalas made with synthetic material, leather and natural stones. Items sold range from $10 to $50.

For him, it is gratifying to have a space dedicated to the exhibition of handicrafts that have the identity of the Amazonian people. “It is important because it allows us to reach an audience that is not our nest and with which we can do new business. I want to thank Manaus City Hall for holding the event and including us in it, opening the doors for us to show our art, attract customers, in addition to generating jobs and income”, he concluded.
