Mustang Sally Group is the new owner of Stuart. The oldest bar in Paraná, the second in Brazil and one of the most traditional in Curitiba, will reopen in the first half of 2024 with the same name. The new features promise to take customers back to the past, with a façade inspired by what it was like in the 1940s and 1950s.
A Paraná Tribune announced on Tuesday (5) that Stuart was closed and would return next year. In conversations with people linked to the Mustang Sally Group, confirmation of the purchase was immediate. “We are very happy with the negotiation, we have history with us and Curitiba deserves it. We have already had meetings with architects, and we are eager to start the work. I believe that in January, people will start to notice the movement”, revealed a source.
Some answers about Stuart’s future can now be announced. The facade with its red awnings will return as it used to be. Currently, there are no protections at the top of the bar. The menu will have new features for customers, without losing delicacies such as bull testicles, frog meat, alligator tail, and others. Portions and snacks can appear in the Bar Canabenta style, which is part of the group.
As for Jorge, better known as Alemão, the waiter received an offer to follow. “He asked to retire, but we made an offer that was practically irrefutable. We want him to stay with us”, informed the source.
Regarding the internal environment, the floor will be replaced, the furniture will be restored and the photos that decorate the Stuart’s century-old setting will be restored. The value of the negotiation and the total cost of the renovation were not disclosed.
Success and expansion
The Mustang Sally Group is considered one of the examples of success and expansion in the industry. The project began with childhood friends, Gustavo Haas and Gustavo Griebeler. The name Mustang Sally is a tribute to the famous ballad by Wilson Picket, a well-known American musician from the 60s. The song is the theme song from the film The Commitments. The group’s first unit was built in a traditional street house, attached to the Novo Batel shopping mall, with its facade based on the architecture of the Soho neighborhood in New York.
In July 2015, with the entry of new partners, Mustang Sally opened its second store at Shopping Palladium and, six months later, it opened at Shopping Mueller. The fourth house is in Cabral, opened in 2022.
