Ten restaurants from Paraná participate in the seventh edition of the O Quilo é Nosso contest, held by the Brazilian Association of Bars and Restaurants (Abrasel). The objective is to move the restaurant segment across the country. Nine other states participate in the competition. Champion in 2020, the Curitiba restaurant Tomilho is also in this year’s edition.
In the first of three stages, each restaurant creates a special recipe to compose the menu throughout the event period. The three best in the state, selected based on popular evaluation and a regional technical jury, compete for the state title. The stage runs until September 22nd.
The local jury evaluates the dishes from the three winning restaurants in the previous phase and chooses the state champion. In the grand final, the state champions compete for the national title by preparing recipes live in front of the public and judges at the Mesa ao Vivo São Paulo event, which takes place on October 25th and 26th. Restaurants in Paraná have the support of Abrasel PR.
“The idea of the competition is to value restaurants by the kilo across the country, creating an even greater interest among the public in tasting the delicacies of the dishes that are placed on the buffet”, explains Luciano Bartolomeu, executive director of Abrasel PR. “Customers vote by enjoying the flavors of participating restaurants.”
