The Minister of Planning and Budget, Simone Tebet, said this Tuesday (4th) that the tax reform is the government’s “silver bullet” and the fiscal framework is the “bronze bullet”. The minister participated in a hearing in the working group that discusses tax reform in the Chamber of Deputies. She stated that the economic team will take advantage of the Holy Week break to make the final adjustments to the text, informed Agência Brasil.

“Tax reform is the only silver bullet. I would say that the fiscal framework is the bronze bullet, the homework within the Executive to give the necessary credibility and allow interest rates to start to fall and Brazil to be able to grow again and generate employment, within this monetary perspective,” he said.

Tebet said that the new fiscal framework should be sent to Congress by next Tuesday (11). “The absolute priority now is to deliver the fiscal framework next week, by Tuesday, so that Congress can, obviously within its time, but as quickly as possible, move forward on the issue of the fiscal framework. of bronze we have”, declared the minister.

Tebet took advantage of the hearing to reinforce the need for approval of the new fiscal framework. “I appeal to you to look with affection at the fiscal framework that we are designing”, asked the minister to the parliamentarians. She reinforced that the new fiscal rules will create an environment that allows the reduction of the Selic, the economy’s basic interest rate, which is currently at 13.75% per year.

“The framework provides confidence to the market that we are doing our homework, guarantees the stabilization of debt in relation to GDP [Produto Interno Bruto] in the medium term and guarantees that the government will not remain in the red, it will zero the deficit in 2024”, he highlighted.
