Tax Reform: hospitals try to maintain tax rates – 07/20/2023 – Panel SA

Companies and sectors benefited from the tax reform are now mobilizing in the government so that the discounts obtained in the new tax rates are maintained by the Senate.

The National Association of Private Hospitals (Anahp), for example, was with the vice-president, Geraldo Alckmin.

The entity’s president, Antônio Britto, heard that the Planalto considers that there are political conditions for the text to be approved without substantial changes in early September.

Britto says that, currently, private hospitals are under pressure due to the crisis of health plans and the new floor of nursing.

“If the discounts negotiated in the tax reform are not maintained, we will have cost increases and this will directly impact salary negotiations with the nursing group”, he said.

Hospitals were included among the essential segments and obtained discounts on the rate resulting from CBS (set of federal taxes) and IBS (ICMS and ISS). In the Chamber of Deputies, it was set at 25% (with a 60% discount).

For the sector, with this rate, it will be possible to maintain the current cost structure. If there is an increase, there will be an impact, above all, on the current salary negotiation for nursing.

By decision of the STF, the new floor for the category is in force and, over two months, negotiations for the readjustments are underway through the unions.

“If there is an increase, it will not be possible to avoid layoffs,” said Britto.
