Regulatory Agency is monitoring daily values practiced in intercity waterway transport
Manaus (AM) – Seeking to inform the population about the ticket prices charged at the Privatized Public Port of Manaus, in the center of the capital, the Regulatory Agency for Delegated and Contracted Public Services of Amazonas (Arsepam) publishes, this Tuesday (17), the price table of vessels operating in intercity waterway transport of passengers.
From the Port of Manaus, 53 vessels operate on 28 lines/destinations, serving locations in the Upper, Middle and Lower Solimões; and Middle and Lower Amazonas. The table with values is available on the Arsepam website, at www.arsepam.am.gov.br.
The CEO of Arsepam, João Rufino Júnior, highlights that the state authority’s inspection teams are monitoring the values practiced at the Port of Manaus on a daily basis.
The manager also explained that the municipality’s Department of Waterway Transport (DETH) is in direct contact with shipowners’ associations to verify the current operating costs due to the drought. All information collected is passed on to the Intersectoral Committee for Coping with Emergency Situations.
Rufino explains that before any increase in ticket prices, Arsepam must be informed, as it is responsible for coordinating and supervising the intercity waterway system.
Reduced capacity
Vessels operating in the region are transporting, respectively, up to 45% of the total passenger capacity and up to 50% of the total cargo capacity, with priority being given to sending food and medicine. The restriction is necessary so that vessels do not run aground.
Reports
Since the creation of the Committee, at the end of September this year, the Arsepam Ombudsman’s Office has not registered complaints of abusive ticket prices. The actions taken deal with the arrival and departure of vessels, as well as reducing the frequency of trips.
The defined values cannot be changed without prior notice to Arsepam. If changes occur, reports can be made via telephone numbers 0800 280 8585 (Monday to Friday, 8am to 2pm) and (92) 98408-1799 (available on WhatsApp 24 hours a day).
The agency serves in person on the premises of the Engenheiro Huascar Angelim Bus Terminal (Manaus Bus Station), Flores neighborhood, central-south zone; online, through the Ombudsman System (Fala.BR); institutional email [email protected]; Electronic Citizen Information System (e-SIC); and via social media on @arsepamamazonas (Instagram, Facebook and X).
