Artist is accused of sentimental fraud, as he scammed single mothers

The Federal District Civil Police preventively arrested, this Friday morning (15), the country singer Wagner Santos Oliveira, known as Wagner Luno.

The investigation by the Samambaia Norte police station, 30 kilometers from the center of Brasília, shows that Oliveira committed sentimental fraud against 26 women and made a profit of more than R$1 million from the scams.

According to police chief Gleyson Mascarenhas, many victims do not file a report out of fear or shame. “Those who had the courage to register have a group where they exchange information and reports of scams. Putting them all together, the scam was worth more than R$1 million,” he explained.

According to the police, there was a similarity in the conduct of the person being investigated in all the incidents against him, which was the search for victims who were emotionally fragile and who were able to offer him some economic benefit.

Investigators say that in most cases, the singer was looking for single mothers, between 30 and 45 years old, with financial stability and who had recently arrived in the Federal District.

The Civil Police say that the singer created different profiles on social networks and dating apps. Then, he identified “target” profiles and, after talking to the women, migrated the conversation to a messaging app.

“Thus, relying on the relationship initiated and the trust placed by the victims, the investigated ended up deceiving them by promising love, fidelity and the creation of a family, leading them to carry out some act that could guarantee the desired objective, that is, that is, the economic benefit”, says the police.

Emotionally involved, the victims lent him money, took out financing and acquired goods for the exclusive use of the person being investigated.

He was arrested accused of the crimes of embezzlement in continuous criminal activity, misappropriation, coercion during the process and theft, with a penalty of up to 18 years in prison. The preventive detention was ordered by the Domestic and Family Violence Against Women Court of Samambaia (DF).

A CNN did not find the defense of the country singer. The space remains open.
