The Lula government appointed this Wednesday (8) Alessandro Octaviani to the post of superintendent at Susep (Superintendence of Private Insurance).
Considered an outsider in the insurance and brokerage market by sector executives, Octaviani was a member of Cade (Administrative Council for Economic Defense) and has an academic career in the area. He is a professor of economic law and political economy at the USP Law School.
He was also one of the founders of the IBDS (Brazilian Institute of Insurance Law), created about two decades ago, on the eve of the end of the IRB’s monopoly in the reinsurance market.
“Alessandro is one of the few superintendents unrelated to the interests of entrepreneurs in the insurance, reinsurance, insurance brokers and others. , says Ernesto Tzirulnik, director of the IBDS and of the Insurance and Reinsurance Law Commission of the OAB-SP.
“The insurance industry makes itself completely available to the new superintendent to develop actions for the benefit of policyholders and the development of insurance in Brazil. We wish him every success and that he has a successful management and a productive passage”, says Dyogo Oliveira , CEO of CNSeg (National Confederation of Insurance Companies).
Other market entities such as Fenacor (which represents brokers) and Fenaber (reinsurance companies) did not comment on the nomination.
The inauguration should take place in the coming weeks, and until then the autarchy will continue under the command of Carlos Queiroz.
