Manaus (AM) — Joy and emotion, feelings that join Carnival and are expressed by the public that, after two years of hiatus, had the opportunity to honor the biggest popular festival in the country, in the capital of Amazonas. Open-air shows were taken to the avenue of the Sambódromo de Manaus, on Saturday night (18), in the parade of the eight samba schools of the special group, in the dispute for the title of champion of 2023.
Still in the area of concentration, the expectation of those who knew that the moment would come, despite the long wait. “In these two years, we can see that life offers us many things, but with all sadness comes joy and, in this case, it is Carnival”, celebrates rhythmist Eduardo Sampaio.
“A carnival to celebrate”, according to Amazonian artist Rosa Malagueta.
“The artistic class lives from this, from this cultural movement and Carnival has to have artists in all sectors, both the guy who makes the car, the costume and us, actors, actresses, singers who are here celebrating popular culture”,
said the artist.
The public gave prestige and, on Passarela do Samba, the schools did their job in the dispute for the maximum score. This Monday (20), the 2023 Carnival champion will be known, in the calculation at 2 pm, at the Sambódromo.

Vila da Barra
The first school of the night, Vila da Barra, returned to the Specials group, narrating an imaginary story about the discovery of the secret civilization that inhabited the heart of the Amazon.
The plot “Ratanabá: The ancient secret of the Amazon”, makes reference to a lost city that went viral in the digital world. The baianas wore a costume similar to the pyramids and the battery of the Pegada da Onça dressed in gold to lead the school in the Compensa neighborhood, with 27 years of history.

As it enters the Passarela do Samba, Grêmio Recreativo Primos da Ilha told the saga of the Lusitano immigrant José Azevedo, who settled in Manaus, in 1934, and here he raised a family and built a business empire in the field of commerce.
The plot “From Beyond the Sea, the Amazon conquered! José Azevedo, the legacy of a dreamy guy TvLar, Manaus Plaza Shopping and TvLar Motos”, showed from childhood to the legacy left by the Portuguese who became an Amazonian.
In 21 wings, the drums command “Moleque atrevido”, supported by four allegories composed of two floats: “The European meets the Amazonian caboclo”, “The Lord of Time – Facade of the Portuguese Beneficent Hospital”, plus the allegorical modules “The shell of the sea hides, in crossing the ocean, the pearl of the Amazon” and “59 years old cake”, Primos da Ilha paid its tribute to José Azevedo.
A third float, titled “TVLar Group with a vision of the future”, should have entered the avenue, but faced technical problems.
