It wasn’t this time that Tasca da Esquina was installed at the meeting between two streets in Brazil. The award-winning Portuguese restaurant officially opens, this Saturday (4), its second unit in São Paulo, on Rua dos Pinheiros. The new house inherited not only the space left by Purgatório —which closed its doors at the end of last year and mixed Spanish and Portuguese dishes on the menu— but also its owner, José Carlos Marques Ferreira, known as Zeca, who became a partner in the unit. from Tasca.

But fish does not reign alone among snacks and dishes to share. “Portuguese restaurants here in Brazil are very much linked to the idea of ​​codfish. Those who don’t eat it, think they don’t like this cuisine. But when they get here, they see octopus, shrimp, shellfish and love it”, says Edrey Momo, restaurateur and partner.

As an alternative to cod, the menu has alheira burger (without bread), accompanied by fried egg, sheep cheese sauce and fries (R$ 109) and shrimp curry (or curry) with fresh coconut and cilantro, served with Brazil nut rice and zucchini (R$ 149).

For dessert, pudding Abade de Priscos (R$39), with a soft texture, is one of the traditional recipes. If you are a fan, you can also order a tasting of sweets.
