A big dream is much better when dreamed together. In this spirit, the South Summit Brazil begins today, which should bring together more than 20,000 people, around 900 speakers from around the world and 100 national and international investment funds at Cais do Mauá, in Porto Alegre.
Until next Friday, the climate of collaboration, business and discussions of strategic themes for the future of the global innovation ecosystem will set the tone for conversations, from panels to connections that take place in the corridors and bars along the Guaíba River.
“Porto Alegre has always been a reference when it comes to innovation. The capital of Rio Grande do Sul has very favorable and desired characteristics and, therefore, stands out when it comes to the environment for business development”, points out the president of South Summit Brazil and from 4all, José Renato Hopf, one of the main responsible for bringing the event, which was born in Madrid, Spain, to the capital of Rio Grande do Sul. One of the biggest innovation and global entrepreneurship events is a co-realization with the Government of RS.
There are 22 thousand m2 and eight stages, two more than in the last edition. Each one will receive one of eight content tracks, which will address topics related mainly to the Latin American context and relevant businesses for the region. They are: Fintechs; Agritechs; Health; Retail; Society; Innovation and Ecosystem; Sustainability and ESG; and Industry 5.0.
Hopf cites the Alliance for Innovation and the Pacto Alegre, created in recent years, as initiatives that mobilized the community and resulted in a great alignment of actors in the ecosystem. “When we understood the effects of the South Summit on the Spanish entrepreneurial scene, we were convinced that we wanted to have the same experience in Brazil. That’s why we work and our future is directly related to the fruits of the connections between companies, funds and startups that the event is capable of generating”, he points out.
The highlight of the South Summit Brazil, the Startups Competition broke a record with more than two thousand entries, with projects from different sectors and at any stage of development, double the number of the previous year. Coming from 86 countries, participation corresponds to 44% of countries worldwide and reinforces the global nature of the event, in addition to the broad national participation, with 92% of Brazilian states.
