Soufflé de Bodó debuts new show this Thursday (25), in Manaus

Manaus (AM) – The Installation Theater (Rua Frei José dos Inocentes, Centro) welcomes the public, this Thursday (25th), at 7pm, for the premiere of the show “Cê Virou Planta”, by Soufflé de Bodó in partnership with Coletivo Nupramta ( Center for Meditative Practices in Artist Training). The rating is 16 years old and access is free.

The director of the Amazon company, Francis Madson, highlights that the piece makes up three new artistic experiments in the “Brasa” project, which also includes the “Manda Brasa” series and the performance “A Vaca”, by Vanessa Bordin, scheduled for February. He explains that it is the second stage of the project developed together with Coletivo Nupramta.

“The play tells the story of the mourning of a son who lost his mother and, on stage, we present performative, physical theater and autobiographical dramaturgy. The production covers the process of mourning and farewell through dramaturgy, music and scenic elements”, comments Madson, who shares the show’s direction with Vanja Poty. “It is an invitation to collective debate and highlights the importance of facing the journey of goodbye with dignity and respect.”

According to the artist, the show marks an unprecedented meeting between two intensely active groups, Nupramta and Soufflé de Bodó, for the co-creation and investigation of notions of Brazilianness and decoloniality in the scene.

“The exchange between the companies also seeks to foster integrated creation networks that bring together artists, researchers, stories and movements necessary for the survival of post-pandemic northern subjectivities”,

points out the artist.

Behind the Scenes

The general conception and dramaturgy of the show is by Francis Madson, who is also a performer. The soundtrack is by Diogo Navia and Samir Torres, movement direction by Adriana Goes, production and lighting operation by Denis Carvalho.

The work also features Cleide Reis as a seamstress, Meire Marques as an artisan, Paulo Martins as a management intern, graphic designer by Thaís Vasconcelos, from Agencinha, carpentry by Juca Di Souza, videos by Marcos Efraim, photography by Hamyle Nobre, as well as Eric Lima on identity creation, Victor Kaleb on off-screen sound design and Manuella Barros on communication.

“Cê Virou Planta” has the support of the City of Manaus, through the Municipal Foundation of Culture, Events and Tourism (Manauscult), through the Thiago de Mello award, and the Government of Amazonas, through the State Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy.

Bodó Soufflé

In June this year, the Amazon company premieres another new play, “Amazonceaga”, an acid comedy about fashion, the Amazon and the transformation of the region’s natural resources into a luxury product, with Adanilo, Julia Kahane, Sarah Margarido, Denis Carvalho and direction and dramaturgy by Francis Madson.

The program for 2024 also includes the inauguration of Casa de Criação Soufflé de Bodó and Jandira Theater Move, a traveling container theater with 22 seats, with the exhibition “ExpoSouffléGrafia + 10” in the Jandira community, in Iranduba.

On the cultural scene since 2013, the group brings together artists with experience in creation, direction and acting, who come together to perform theater shows that focus on Amazonian man and authorial dramas.

Among the works carried out by the group are “Casa de Franciscos”, “Quem Nasce Antônio é Rei”, “Herói”, “Dragão de Macarapana”, “Curuminzado”, “Mãe – In Loco”, “Remontagem”, “Banho de Cavalo ”, “Short Film” and “Alice Muscle +2”.

Soufflé de Bodó creates and executes cultural events in the city and manages Jandira Theater Move, the first traveling container theater in the northern region, with 22 seats. The group operates in Manaus and Iranduba, on the banks of the Solimões River, in the community of Jandira.
