After publicly assuming the relationship with actor Igor Fernandez, Bruno Fagundes, son of Antonio Fagundes, revealed that he has already suffered violence in the street for being gay.
“I’ve suffered a lot of violence throughout my life. (…) I’ve been beaten up on the street. I was about 20 years old and I was walking with two friends, near Avenida Paulista. it makes a lot of sense to call it that, but they would be skinheads.”, he told in an interview with “Folha de S.Paulo”.
“I remember thinking as I was being beaten, ‘I’m lucky none of them had a knife in their hand or a switchblade,'” he added.
The second violence he reported having suffered was when he was asked by a journalist about his sexuality.
“I was interviewed live by a reporter and he asked me to my face if I was gay. And it was in a context that had absolutely nothing to do with it. I said no. I went back home and I remember throwing up. It was very traumatic, because I didn’t have the maturity I have today, and then someone exposes you that way. It’s gratuitous violence”, he recalls.
Bruno and Igor have been together since the beginning of the recordings for “Cara e courage”, which began in the first half of last year, but they only publicly acknowledged their relationship at the beginning of the month, when they posted a romantic photo on social networks.
“The fact that I never talked about it [sexualidade] rather, it’s perhaps because I don’t feel safe enough. Today, I feel. And I think sharing my story might help someone. Maybe I have the possibility to make someone understand themselves better. And that’s why I do what I do. (…)”, says the actor.
“I have a father who is the representation of what would be the ideal of the straight man, alpha male. And this has nothing to do with him personally. This has to do with his work”, he explains.
This is the first relationship with another man publicly assumed by the actor. Bruno, 33, is the son of Fagundes and actress Mara Carvalho. The actor plays the villain and choreographer Renan in the current soap opera at 7 pm.
Igor lives the character Lucas, from the same nucleus. He debuted on TV in “Good Success” in 2019. At the time, the actor publicly assumed his sexuality by revealing that he was dating Psychology student Gabriel Soares.
