The Minas Gerais industry protested against the provisional measure of Minha Casa Minha Vida that grants benefits for the installation of solar panels in new properties of the program. The benefit should increase Brazilians’ electricity bills by R$ 1 billion.
The calculations were made by the Energy Nucleus of the Federation of Industries of Minas Gerais (Fiemg), which requests the government to veto the measure.
For Fiemg, the measure should be funded by Budget resources and not be passed on to other energy consumers.
“The idea of placing photovoltaic panels in the program’s housing units is excellent, but the cost cannot be borne by the final consumer”, says Tania Mara Costa dos Santos, coordinator of the Fiemg Energy Center.
According to her, the impact on the electricity bill could reach R$ 1 billion, reaching all consumption levels. This value refers to the loss of revenue for the electrical system passed on to consumers through the Energy Development Account (CDE).
“Public policies must be adopted according to the resources foreseen in the General Budget of the Union, not in the light bill”, he said.
