In recent years, energy from solar sources has gained prominence, with the adoption of residential, commercial, industrial and rural consumers.
Itacoatiara (AM) – Last Monday, May 29, World Energy Day was celebrated, a date created in 1981 in Portugal to raise awareness about the importance of thinking about renewable forms of energy and the economy of consumption. In terms of generation, Brazil is in a favorable position, as 90% of its energy matrix comes from clean energy sources (hydro, wind, solar, natural gas and biomass).
In recent years, energy from solar sources has gained prominence, with the adhesion of residential, commercial, industrial and rural consumers. It became the 2nd main in Brazil with the production of 28,961 megawatts (MW), of the total 212,473 generated by all sources, and a share of 13.1%. Energy from water sources is predominant, with 109,864 MW produced, and a 49.8% share, according to statistics from the Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy (Absolar).
In four years, photovoltaic energy production jumped 257% in Brazil. It went from 8,094 MW generated in 2020 to 28,961 MW in April 2023. In seven years, the evolution is 2,400%. And adherence to this energy matrix has an impact on the economy and the environment. To give you an idea, in the data accumulated since 2012 there are more than R$ 143.4 billion in new investments, more than 868 thousand jobs generated, more than R$ 42.7 billion in taxes collected and more than 36.7 million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) avoided, according to Absolar.
Aware of this trend, which is increasingly accessible to Brazilians, Sicredi offers its members – individuals, companies and rural producers – lines of credit for solar and renewable energy projects. Demand is growing, as shown by credit portfolio data for these purposes.
In the states of the North and Midwest regions (AM, PA, RO, AC, AP, RR, MT and some cities in Goiás), area covered by Central Sicredi Centro Norte, growth was 68.5% in the same period , when hiring rose from R$272.6 million to R$459.3 million. The number of operations jumped from 1,358 to 2,307, an increase of 70%.
In addition to credit, Sicredi also offers its members a sustainable consortium, for the acquisition of eco-efficient equipment that includes solar and renewable energy.
Initiative in business and residence
Entrepreneur and investor Roberto Egídio Rauber decided to invest in solar energy to supply Residencial Flor da Serra, which he owns in the municipality of Itacoatiara (270 km from Manaus); and a cosmetics and perfumery franchise, in addition to his own residence.
Implemented 8 months ago, Rauber said he can already see the positive results of the solar energy project.
“It is a right and ecologically correct investment”, evaluates the businessman, informing that he already has plans to expand the project. “With the availability of beautiful nature, which provides us with a sun shining practically all year round, it is not necessary to think too much about investing in this solar energy segment.“, he emphasizes.
Rauber invested BRL 230,000 in the solar energy project, part of which was financed by Sicredi. The project is generating 4 thousand kilowatts of energy per month.
“In fact, I consider solar energy as an investment. The economy will come after the return on this investment, but we can already see the positive results”,
evaluates the entrepreneur.
