In addition to being an actress, Renata Tobelem, Dina from “Travessia”, has been an acting teacher for over 15 years. In Globo’s nine o’clock plot, the housekeeper goes far beyond her professional duties and actively participates in the lives of the other characters. At the age of 44, the actress, who is the mother of Maria Clara, aged 10, is having fun with the repercussions of the soap opera. In the following chat, she says that working with Drica Moraes is lucky and defends newcomer Jade Picon.

How has the repercussion of the soap opera been for you?
Very interesting. On the streets, the telenovela has great acceptance. People ask if Dina won’t react and slap Nubia (Drica Moraes). The comments on the networks are cool. But we know that the soap opera is not unanimous.
In addition to being a housekeeper, Dina was tasked with accompanying Tonho (Vicente Alvite) during the visits he makes to Brisa (Lucy Alves). The character works all the time, right?
Dina’s life was wonderful and turned crazy (laughs). She has hashtags on the networks #FreeDina and #LiberdadeParaDina (laughs). I keep thinking maybe she doesn’t have another life. Now, Guida (Alessandra Negrini) will also arrive at Guerra’s (Humberto Martins) house. It will become Tufão’s mansion in “Avenida Brasil” (2012). Everything in that house is with Dina! For me, working with Drica Moraes is lucky. She is one of my biggest inspirations.
And how has it been working with Jade Picon?
There is a part of the public that likes to see Dina with Chiara. I have been an acting teacher for over 15 years and I give private acting classes. Jade does this role better than most beginners would. What she lacks is ground, technique. She has to study a lot and is aware of that. But she doesn’t miss the text. I make a lot more mistakes. Jade is darn it, she’s not a misguided star. She is very serious. We have to respect the trajectory of people. Our core is aware of this. And Jade listens to everyone. The criticisms are exaggerated.
How do you combine your career as an actress with that of a teacher?
That part of the profession found me. I started at Tablado as a student at age 11 and made my first play at 14. Years later, I was assistant director and became a teacher. I can go beyond acting and understand the human being. A lot of people come to practice acting and bring trauma, low self-esteem. I can penetrate and understand these issues.
What did Dina teach you?
Dina brought me a tenderness that I had lost in my life.
