Titled ‘The Next Step is Yours’, the 30-second film aims to promote female protagonism and encourage women around the world. Shakira in an advertising campaign for Ipanema Disclosure Ipanema Colombian singer Shakira appeared speaking Portuguese in a new campaign for the footwear brand Ipanema. She is the company’s new poster girl, to promote the new line of sandals ‘Semper Nova’. The campaign was carried out in August by the Buena Onda agency. The relationship between Shakira and Brazil goes back a long way. The singer has spoken fluent Portuguese since she was 18, which always causes a stir among Brazilian fans. In 2021, for example, she gave an interview to Fantástico in which she showcases her ability with the language (see the video at the end of the article). In the commercial, titled “The next step is yours”, the singer shows the four new models of the Semper Nova line in a 30-second film. The idea is to show “female protagonism and encouragement of women around the world”. According to Grendene, owner of the Ipanema brand, the choice of Shakira as the star of the campaign refers to her “influence and connection” with women around the world, whether through music, dance or volunteer work. “I am happy to announce this partnership and join forces with Ipanema, in a campaign that seeks to highlight female trajectories and carries an important message for all women to value each step they take, both towards themselves and towards their dreams”, said Shakira in release note.
