Senacon (National Consumer Secretariat), a body linked to the Ministry of Justice, notified Rodrigo Modesto de Abreu, president of Oi, asking for explanations about the process of selling deactivated network cables.
The notification, sent last week, cites a complaint sent by Andet (National Association in Defense of Transparency) about negotiation of copper cables. The material is in the process of being replaced by fiber technology networks.
In a note, Oi states that the complaint was made by an “association with an unsuitable registration status with the Federal Revenue, without indicating the qualification of its legal representative and requesting clarification on a sale of assets that did not even take place”.
The company claims that all clarifications were provided, “regardless of the fragility and lack of content of the aforementioned file”. It also says that it bases its conduct on transparency and that it maintains the focus on measures for its restructuring and operational sustainability, respecting the law and necessary authorizations, in the process of judicial recovery.
