See the GDP behavior of several countries in 2022 – 03/02/2023 – Market

A survey of 34 countries that have already released data for GDP (Gross Domestic Product) in the fourth quarter of 2022 shows that the average growth of these economies was 0.3% in the period, according to data provided by the OECD (Organization for Cooperation and Development Economic).
There are 21 economies with growth, two with stability (China and the United Kingdom) and 11 with retraction, in comparison with the previous quarter. Brazil’s GDP shrank by 0.2% in the fourth quarter compared to the previous one, according to information released this Thursday (2nd) by the IBGE.
Ireland, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Israel and Denmark are the five that grew the most in the last quarter in this sample. Hungary, Korea, Sweden, Austria, Lithuania and Poland are at the bottom of the ranking.
The US economy grew at an annualized rate of 2.9% in the last quarter of the year, compared to 3.2% in the previous quarter. Growth in the euro zone was 0.1%.
In the quarterly comparison, China’s GDP was stagnant in the fourth quarter compared to the third. In the year, it grew 3%, one of the worst levels in almost half a century.
IMF (International Monetary Fund) projections point to global economic growth of 3.4% in 2022 and 2.9% in 2023.
Despite the slowdown, the Fund highlights resilient demand in the US and Europe, easing energy costs and the reopening of China’s economy after the country abandoned its Covid-zero policy.
The UK is the only major advanced economy that the IMF predicts will be in recession this year.
