Bank branches across Brazil will not have in-person service this Thursday (2) due to the All Souls’ Day holiday. ATMs and online services will be available to users even without in-person hours.

On Friday (3), service will return to normal at bank branches, according to the start and end times defined in each location.

Payment of water, electricity and telephone bills due on the holiday date can be made on the next business day, Friday (3). The extension also applies to vouchers. However, expert advice is to check whether the date has actually been changed to avoid paying interest.

Bills generally come with due dates adjusted to national holidays to avoid charges for late payments. If in doubt about the payment deadline, the customer should call the customer service department of the company that issued the title to confirm or negotiate the best date.

Febraban (Brazilian Federation of Banks) also recommends paying the bill in advance and, if the bill has a barcode, it is possible to make an appointment at ATMs and other service channels provided by banks.
