Sebrae: amid dispute, businessman asks for new statute – 03/29/2023 – Panel SA

João Galassi, president of Unecs (National Union of Commerce and Services Entities) and Abras (supermarket association), met with parliamentarians who work in the negotiations surrounding the dispute over the command of Sebrae and asked that the statute be changed before the deposition of Carlos Melles, current president of the entity.
Galassi defends that Melles remains in office until a new Sebrae guideline is voted on. The idea is that the elections will follow the beginning of the mandates of the Presidency of the Republic.
“This statute was poorly prepared, generating all this confusion. That’s why I suggest to the FCS [Frente Parlamentar do Comércio e Serviços]which is in defense of democracy and Sebrae, which enters the field for an agreement, establishing a fair composition”, said Gallassi in a note.
The Lula government wants to remove Carlos Melles during the meeting of the deliberative council of Sebrae, scheduled for this Thursday (30). The understanding is that Melles, elected at the end of last year for his second term at Sebrae, would be a name linked to former President Bolsonaro. Former federal deputy Décio Lima (PT) is tipped to replace him.
Galassi calls for union between the sector’s confederations with seats on the Sebrae council to avoid conflicts with the federal government. “It’s not worth fighting with the trade and we, as good traders, don’t want to fight with the government,” he said.
The FCS launched a manifesto about the case this week, signed by Senator Efraim Filho (União-PB) and by Deputy Domingos Sávio (PL-MG). For them, the current leaders have already demonstrated that the entity will remain allied with the Executive regardless of party alignment.
