Searches for ‘wife’ of Galípolo on Google stand out – 09/05/2023 – Mônica Bergamo

The curiosity of Brazilians about the marital status of the current executive secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Gabriel Galípolo, raised the term “Gabriel Galípolo wife” to the sixth most associated with his name in searches carried out on Google this Tuesday afternoon (9). The economist is single.

On Monday (8), searches for the subject on the platform peaked around 1 pm, after the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, announced that Galípolo will be appointed by the government to the board of the Central Bank.

In the early hours of Tuesday, there was a new high in searches around 4am, according to Google Trends.

Platform users who type the name “Gabriel Galípolo” in the search bar even come across the suggestion to search for “Gabriel Galípolo wife”. The platform’s autocomplete mechanism, however, considers several factors other than high searches in its suggestions.

“Autocomplete predictions reflect actual searches that were performed on Google. To determine which predictions to display, our systems look for common queries that match what the person started typing into the search box,” the company says.

“If our automated systems detect that there is growing interest in a topic, they may show a trending forecast, even if it’s not the most common of all related forecasts we know of,” Google continues. “Forecasts will reflect queries that are unique and relevant to a given topic,” he says.

Galípolo is one of Haddad’s closest assistants and was already heard by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) on economic issues since the pre-election campaign period.

One of his first appearances took place alongside PT president Gleisi Hoffmann, who took him to a dinner with businessmen in April 2022. On the occasion, his speech in defense of dialogue between the government and the market was well received.

Currently, Galípolo helps lead all the strategic discussions of the Ministry of Finance and was directly involved in the elaboration of the new fiscal framework and in the packages of measures to rebalance the public accounts.

He was president of Banco Fator and worked in consultancies before joining public administration.
