São Paulo surpasses Rio in ranking of the best cities – 02/24/2023 – Tourism

The annual World’s Best Cities ranking, prepared by the tourism consultancy Resonance Consultancy, consecrated London as the best city in the world in 2023. São Paulo was in 33rd place, ahead of Rio de Janeiro, which occupied the 59th. They are the only two Brazilian cities on the list.
To decide the positions, the survey combined statistical metrics and visitor opinions on 24 factors such as climate, environment, population diversity and cultural programming.
These are categories that affect the quality of life of residents and tourists, according to the ranking.
São Paulo, which was in 44th place in 2021, rose 11 positions this year. The capital of São Paulo earned points for having large communities of immigrants, in addition to standing out in gastronomy with different restaurants and intense cultural programming.
Rio de Janeiro, on the other hand, received good marks both for its natural beauties, such as beaches, and for its nightlife, with emphasis on samba. The capital of Rio de Janeiro was among the top ten cities in terms of outdoors, which measures the possibilities for sightseeing in the area.
The World’s Best Cities ranking also made an honorable mention to Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, for its efforts to resist the Russian invasion, which began a year ago.
