The Brazilian government informed that Russia will resume imports of Brazilian beef, which were suspended since March 1st.

In a note published this Friday (7), the Itamaraty noted that it “received with satisfaction” the announcement of the end of the restrictions imposed by the Russians after the atypical case of mad cow disease registered in February on a farm in the state of Pará.

Also according to the Itamaraty, in 2022, exports of Brazilian beef to Russia totaled around US$165 million, equivalent to 24,000 tons of the product.

Recently, the Philippines also reopened imports from the Brazilian market. The country is the sixth destination for beef exports from Brazil, totaling US$275 million in 2022 (61 thousand tons).

China, the country responsible for purchasing more than 60% of the beef exported by Brazil, with a volume of US$ 8 billion in negotiations, announced the end of the embargo last month.
