Inland navigation, which covers the transport of cargo by rivers and tributaries, transported 38.4 million tons in 2022, an increase of 5.4% compared to the previous year, according to the balance that the
Antaq (National Waterway Transport Agency) announces this week.
The biggest advance in movement was corn, with 22.1 million tons transported in inland navigation, which represents an 87% jump compared to 2021.
Oil and derivatives also stood out with an increase of 14%.
Also according to Antaq, the Amazon and Tocantins-Araguaia hydrographic regions had an impulse of 14.5% and 13% in inland transport in the last year and together represented 76% of all movement.
On the other hand, the Atlântico Sul and Paraná waterways had a drop of around 30% each.
