Rita Lee is hospitalized in São Paulo, aged 75; singer lost weight in the last few days

Rita Lee was admitted, last Thursday (23), to the Albert Einstein hospital, in São Paulo, according to sources close to the singer’s family. The hospitalization happened because, in the last four days, she lost weight and is in a more fragile state of health. The doctors therefore thought that, preventively, it was more appropriate to keep her under observation.

In 2021, Rita was diagnosed with lung cancer. In April 2022, she shared the news that she was cured. Even so, Rita Lee preferred not to celebrate the fact with euphoria, as she knows that the treatment requires prudence.

Remission, as with the singer, means that the signs and symptoms of cancer are reduced or absent. It can be complete, when all signs and symptoms of cancer have disappeared, or partial.

Usually, the patient is considered cured when the cancer remains in complete remission for five years or more. During this period, the patient needs to have regular medical appointments even without symptoms.
