Revenue from the Industrial Pole of Manaus reaches R$ 72 billion between January and May this year

Growth of 1.96% is recorded in the first five months of the year compared to the result obtained in the same period last year
Manaus (AM) – The Industrial Pole of Manaus (PIM) earned BRL 72.03 billion in the first five months of this year, indicating growth of 1.96% compared to the same period of 2022 (BRL 70.65 billion). In dollar terms, PIM revenues reached US$ 14.13 billion and registered a drop of 1.22% compared to the same period last year (US$ 14.31 billion).
PIM exports totaled US$ 243.93 million between January and May 2023, representing an increase of 11.82% compared to the same period last year (US$ 218.15 million).
In May, the PIM factories reported the maintenance of 107,813 direct jobs, including permanent, outsourced and temporary employees. The indicator is very similar to that verified in May of last year (108,064 workers) and 1.77% lower than that verified in April of this year (109,754 workers). With the numbers closed until May, the monthly average of PIM jobs in 2023 is 110,339 direct workers.
Segments and products
The Electronics (except IT Goods) segments, with revenues of R$13.31 billion and growth of 12.43%, Two Wheels, with revenues of R$12.98 billion and growth of 28%, and Chemicals, with revenues of R$ 7.60 billion and growth of 10.35%, were the main drivers of PIM’s performance in the first five months of this year.
Another segment that also stood out in the period was Mechanics, with revenues of R$ 3.29 billion and an increase of 4.36%.
Among the main products manufactured by PIM between January and May of this year, the highlights go mainly to the lines of motorcycles, scooters and mopeds, with 697,352 units manufactured and an increase of 21.44%; televisions with LCD and OLED screens, with 5,373,096 units manufactured and an increase of 37.15%; split system air conditioners, with 1,570,886 units manufactured and an increase of 39.32%; and single-body window or wall-mounted air conditioners, with 53,691 units manufactured and an increase of 143.14%.
The lines of television signal receivers also stood out in the period, with 1,458,445 units manufactured and an increase of 141.98%; and razors, with 752,357 units manufactured and an increase of 19.2%.
Assessment
The superintendent of Suframa, Bosco Saraiva, stated that the PIM indicators, together with other recent positive events such as the approval of R$ 727.3 million in new investments at the 310th Meeting of the Board of Directors of Suframa (CAS), this week, and the signing of the management contract for the new Amazon Biobusiness Center (CBA), contribute to strengthening the Manaus Free Trade Zone (ZFM) model at an important moment of intensified discussions related to Tax Reform.
“These are facts that show that the PIM remains strong, grandiose, attracting investments, but that we also have diversification projects in other economic segments, such as the bioeconomy, seeking to expand opportunities to generate employment and income for the resident population throughout the area. scope of Suframa”,
