Retail expects hike in March after weak start to year – 03/27/2023 – Panel SA

After a weak start to the year, with growth below 1%, the IDV (Institute for Retail Development) projects a real increase of 4% in sales in the sector in March, compared to the same month last year.

Also according to the entity, which represents brands such as Riachuelo, Centauro, Marisa and Americanas, the expectation is that the level will be maintained in April.

For May, the high should be close to 3%, estimates the IDV.

The entity attributes the improvement to factors such as the cooling of the pandemic and a more positive macroeconomic scenario compared to the first months of 2022.

In this next quarter, the IDV estimates that sectors such as furniture, appliances and construction materials should show growth.
