Donation, collection, protests: the return to face-to-face in the USA

Large US companies are struggling to convince workers to return to face-to-face work, at least for a few days, as the New York Times shows.

Salesforce, the enterprise software giant, said it would donate $10 to a local charity for every day an employee shows up for work from June 12 to 23, according to Fortune magazine.

Other companies have adopted a strategy that can directly reach employees’ pockets.

This is the case of Google, which advised workers that their records of attendance at the offices will be considered in internal performance evaluations. Big Wall Street banks also monitor attendance.

Meta told employees it expects to see them three days a week starting in September, Disney spoke of four days, Amazon faced an employee outcry when it suggested three, and Tesla and Twitter’s Elon Musk hates remote working.

Eve lands more ‘flying car’ orders

Eve, a company controlled by Embraer, disclosed that it had closed letters of intent with three companies for the combined order of up to 150 eVTOLs (electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, known as “flying cars”).

The requests:

• 70 units for the Brazilian company Voar, which plans to take the operation to the metropolitan regions of some Brazilian capitals and tourist destinations.

• Up to 50 aircraft for the Norwegian Widerøe, through the Widerøe Zero initiative. The deal also involves a package of Eve service and operation solutions.

• 15 units for the Danish Nordic Aviation Capital, which will also have the option to acquire another 15 for lease to fleet operators.

Understand: eVTOLs are considered a cheaper, quieter and less polluting alternative to helicopters.

Eve is one of the most advanced companies in this market and expects deliveries to begin in 2026. In May, the company announced that it had 2,770 orders – those of Brazilian Voar are already included in this account.

The first flights should cost between US$ 50 and US$ 100 (R$ 480) per passenger, last a maximum of 15 minutes and have four crew members in addition to the pilot. In the future, travel may take place without a human at the helm.

The company disclosed the orders during the Paris Air Show, an event in which manufacturers demonstrated the vehicles (see here).

Caixa suspends Pix collection for PJ

After an order from the Planalto Palace, Caixa suspended its decision to start charging a fee for transfers via Pix made by legal entities.

The public bank had informed that it would start charging on July 19 for customers who are private legal entities, but leaving out MEI (individual micro-entrepreneurs) and public legal entities.

Understand: the possibility of charging Pix for PJs is in a 2020 Central Bank resolution. The means of payment is the most popular in Brazil.

Caixa said that the decision for the tariff came last year and was only announced now because it was waiting for a technological fix.

What the state bank planned to charge:

• PJ transfers to individuals, Pix key and payment initiator.

• Sending PJ to PJ via manual entry of data and Pix key.

• The minimum amount would be BRL 1, and the maximum amount would be BRL 8.50.

Who charges: the tariff is already practiced by large banks, such as Itaú, Bradesco and Banco do Brasil.

• Digital banks such as Neon and C6 Bank claim that they do not charge PJ.

‘Popular car’: discount follows only for individuals

The government extended the deadline for 15 days so that only individuals can purchase light cars with discounts between R$ 2,000 and R$ 8,000 banked by the Union.

Understand: the renewal was provided for by the provisional measure that gave rise to the program and does not involve any increase in value.

• Companies could have access to discounts starting this Tuesday (21), but with the extension, they will have to wait a little longer.

In the case of trucks and buses, the benefits that were previously restricted to self-employed transporters, micro-entrepreneurs and small businesses can now also be accessed by other companies.

“Probably not”: Asked whether the program could be extended as a whole, Vice President Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) said that the stimulus should end as soon as the amount set aside by the government for the discount is reached.

In numbers: over the weekend, the volume of resources requested by automakers reached BRL 320 million. As a result, 64% of the total R$ 500 million reserved for the modality have already been consumed.

• The government also set aside BRL 700 million for trucks (14% has already been used) and BRL 300 million for vans and buses (43% has already been spent).
