The president of the PT in Paraná, Arilson Chiorato, informed this Friday (30) that the party filed a direct action of unconstitutionality (ADI) in the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to question the privatization of Copel (Companhia Paranaense de Energia), approved by the Legislative Assembly of Paraná and sanctioned by the governor at the end of last year.
The PT argues that the privatization violates the federative pact “due to the interference of the State of Paraná in the Federal Union’s property rights” and also questions that the law that released the privatization, stating that there was “violation of due legislative process and suppression of debate parliamentary”.
The PT’s action is endorsed by the party’s national president, Gelisi Hoffmann, who recently questioned the sale of the state-owned company to the private sector. “France has just completed the process of renationalizing the country’s largest energy company. Do you know why? Because of the high tariff. And Brazil remains outclassed in this discussion. It was Eletrobras and now Ratinho Jr wants to sell Copel. Who pays the price? What counts for so much retrograde vision is the people. Save Copel!”, he tweeted at the beginning of the week.
