Private pension fundraising rose 11% in 2022 – 02/16/2023 – Panel SA

Private pension fundraising reached BRL 156 billion in 2022, according to the balance sheet for the year finalized by Fenaprevi (National Federation of Private Pension and Life) this week. Compared to the 2021 result, the increase was 11%.
According to the survey, almost 11 million people have a pension plan in Brazil and the sector’s total assets are R$ 1.2 trillion. There are approximately 13.8 million plans sold and, according to Fenaprevi, 65 thousand (5%) are in the benefit receiving phase.
The data also show that 61% of the contracted plans are VGBL (free life generating plan), while 21% are PGBL (free benefit generating plan) and 18% are traditional risk plans.
In terms of gross funding, VGBL premiums amounted to BRL 140 billion (90% of the total in 2022), followed by PGBL with BRL 12.7 billion and traditional plans with BRL 3.2 billion.
