Manaus (AM) – Seeking to promote sustainable economic development in agribusiness in Amazonas, the State Government launched, this Monday (9), the Primary Sector Cooperative and Associativism Center (Nucap). The initiative is led by the Secretariat of Rural Production (Sepror), aiming to strengthen collective economic actions in the context of local agribusiness. The launch event took place in the auditorium of the Sepror System headquarters, located in the Japiim neighborhood, South Zone of Manaus.

Nucap will work to implement and expand activities to support the regularization and sustainability of Cooperatives and Associations, ensuring modernization and sustainability in organizational management.

Daniel Borges, head of Sepror, highlighted the importance of Nucap for the economy of Amazonas, emphasizing that the Center’s goals, guidelines and organizational innovations are of great relevance for the economic strengthening of the state. Furthermore, he highlighted that the planned collective actions will have a significant impact on the benefit of rural producers and on improving the activities of cooperatives and associations supported by the Sepror System.

“The Center is an initiative that aims to unite the efforts of the Sepror system, strengthening and supporting associations and cooperatives in the primary sector. We are focused on offering systematized advice and consultancy so that these entities can participate in social promotion funds and other opportunities, such as parliamentary amendments and public calls. An integrated strategy by the state government to support cooperativism and associations”,

highlighted the head of Sepror, Daniel Borges.

On the occasion, the president of the Organization of Brazilian Cooperatives (OCB/AM), José Merched Chaar, highlighted that the creation of the nucleus was a real goal.

“We need to expand our production to meet a growing demand for food. The reality is that more and more people need to eat, and we must demystify the idea that hunger is increasing in our state. We will reverse this situation with hard work, organization and, above all, determination”,

said José Merched.

A necessary and long-awaited organization in Amazonas, Nucap, launched by Sepror, represents an important milestone in supporting cooperativism and associations, aiming to boost development in rural areas, said the president of the Federation of Rural Workers and Family Farmers from the State of Amazonas (Fetagri), Edejane Rodrigues.

“This organization was missing within the primary sector, which seeks to serve cooperativism, associations within the State. This reference so that we can speak out and demand improvements for associations such as funds allocated to the sector, parliamentary amendments, among others. Nucap brings this great leverage for workers within the State through cooperativism and associations”,

said the president.

About Nucap

The Primary Sector Cooperativism and Associativism Center (Nucap) was created with a series of fundamental responsibilities to promote the development of cooperativism and associations in the state of Amazonas.

Among its functions are: Preparing studies, programs, and projects aimed at the development of cooperativism and state associations; Systematize knowledge in the area of ​​rural organization; Provide technical assistance to cooperatives and associations in the primary sector; Offer specialized training to agents involved in the constitution and administration of cooperatives and associations; Capture indicators and carry out diagnoses for monitoring, evaluating and controlling actions developed for farmers and rural producers assisted by the secretariat.

Among other responsibilities are: Providing opportunities for training, interaction, socialization between State organizations; and promote workshops, courses and lectures in Sepror’s area of ​​activity.
