The president of Eletrobras, Wilson Ferreira Júnior, resigned, the company informed this Monday (14) in a statement to the market. With that, the company’s board of directors chose Ivan de Souza Monteiro for the vacancy. Monteiro was, until then, chairman of the board. The now former president of Eletrobras, Wilson Ferreira Junior Laís Lis/G1 Ferreira took over Eletrobras in September last year. Before, he had already held the presidency between 2016 and 2021. The company’s statement does not state the reason for leaving. Trajetória Ferreira was appointed to Eletrobras for the first time, in 2016, by former president Michel Temer. Previously, he had chaired CPFL Energia for 18 years. When former president Jair Bolsonaro took over in 2019, Ferreira was kept in office. He left in 2021 and returned last year after the company’s privatization.
