By means of a note, the folk association reported financial difficulties
The Boi Garantido Folkloric Association published a note this Monday morning (19) threatening not to participate in the 2023 Parintins Folk Festival. The document is signed by the association’s president, Antônio Andrade, who alleges financial difficulties.
The communiqué states that the direction does not have the resources to finance the payment of collaborators and to take the presentation of the Boi for the three nights of the festival at the same time.
“Given the scenario and these alternatives, we were forced to follow the second option, that is, pay all Bumbá employees. This implies the absence of conditions to perform on the three nights of the Festival. The objective is, therefore, not only to pay the workers, but also to avoid the collapse that is approaching in case of non-compliance with the agreement with our artists in general. This is an imminent calamity, with the right to death threats and a scenario of social chaos that should affect not only Boi Garantido, but the city of Parintins as a whole”, says the note.
In recent years, Boi Garantido has already been facing difficulties in paying debts and collaborators, however, the folk association has already received more than R$ 13 million this year between sponsorship, box office and financial support from the State Government.
