For the next month, the Cathedral should also host the opening and closing of the Freedom Forum. “It is very representative to have the beginning and end of the Freedom Forum at this strategic point, close to the three powers. In addition, being in the Cathedral makes the event more impressive”, says the institutional relations director of the Freedom Forum, Matheus de Macedo.
He explains that until last year the opening was held at the Leopoldina Juvenil Club. The closing party will take place for the first time, with ticket sales for the open bar party at the Cathedral, with a DJ. For lunch, 300 people are expected, and for the closing party of the Forum, 600 people.

According to her, the Cathedral’s new space has the capacity to receive up to 900 people in auditorium format, and up to 600 people in dinner format. Attached to the hall, there is also a garden that expands the space. The work to revitalize the garden was carried out this year.
The main objective with this commercial use of the Cathedral is to pay for the maintenance of the place, which, being a listed heritage, makes any work more costly. In addition, part of the collection from events is destined for pastoral funds to carry out the Fraternity Campaign.
So far, in the 2023 calendar, the Cathedral has already hosted three corporate events and many are already scheduled for this and next year. The cost of renting the main hall of the Metropolitan Cathedral is R$ 24,000.
