Plano Safra allocates BRL 364.22 billion to support agricultural production

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva launched, on Tuesday (27), the Crop Plan 2023/2024 with R$ 364.22 billion to finance agriculture and livestock farming in the country. The credit will support large rural producers and producers included in the National Support Program for Medium Rural Producers (Pronamp).

The total is 26.8% higher than the amounts earmarked in the previous plan, for 2022/2023, of BRL 287.16 billion for Pronamp and other producers. “It is the first Crop Plan of our government and like the others, from 2003 to 2015, I am not afraid to tell you that every year we will plan better than the previous year”, said Lula, in a ceremony at the Palácio from the Plateau.

“Those who think that the government thinks ideologically when dealing with a Crop Plan are mistaken. Those who think that the government will do more or do less because it has problems or not with Brazilian agribusiness are mistaken. The head of a responsible government does not act like that, the head of a responsible government does not have the smallness to be insulting, instilling hatred among people. This country will only succeed if everyone wins”,

stressed the president.

Sustainability

The government’s objective with this Crop Plan is to encourage the strengthening of environmentally sustainable production systems, with a reduction in interest rates for recovery of pastures and rewards for rural producers who adopt agricultural practices considered more sustainable.

For Lula, the productive sector cannot be a “predator” of the country’s natural resources, which are an asset for future generations. “We don’t need to deforest anything to raise more cattle, to plant more soybeans, we have the possibility of recovering millions of hectares of degraded land that this country has”, said Lula.

Secretary Petrucio Magalhães Júnior, who represented Governor Wilson Lima, highlighted the importance of the Federal Government’s initiative.

“The Crop Plan is very important, as it guides public policies for rural production. And after the launch of the 23/24 edition, we will certainly have confirmation about the resources we will have and the promotion destined for our state, to continue to internalize economic development with the generation of jobs and income and show that it is possible, above all , we produce sustainable food in the Amazon biome”,

said the secretary.

The president is also suggesting that the federal government, through the National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform, and the state governments, with their secretariats, carry out surveys and create a “shelf” of vacant and unproductive lands to carry out agrarian reform. “We don’t even need to have more land invasions in this country,” he said. “You don’t need to go through a 3 or 4 year process to discover that the land is unproductive. Let’s see before. The government can have a shelf and offer this to the country,” he added.

Complementing the values ​​for the rural sector, tomorrow (28), Lula announces the Crop Plan for Family Agriculture, with a value of around R$ 77 billion in resources and lower interest rates for financing small producers in food production, acquisition of machines and sustainable practices, such as bio-inputs, socio-biodiversity and agro-ecological transition.
