With this in mind, the Association of Rural Producers of Carauari (ASPROC), which operates in the Médio Juruá region, municipality of Carauari, launched the campaign “In Amazonian Christmas, there is legal pirarucu”, which encourages the sale of sustainably managed fish in the interior of Amazonas via the website loja.asproc.org.br/loja.

The online store offers the belly for R$ 34.80 (1,200 kg), the loin fillet for R$ 42 (1,200 kg) and the pirarucu tail fillet for R$ 26/kg. There is also the sale of other products such as “D’Água” cassava flour, which is a great accompaniment to pirarucu. ASPROC also guarantees delivery, with a fee calculated by the website, to consumers in Manaus.

The “flagship” of the ASPROC campaign is the sustainably managed pirarucu, due to its versatility in preparing various recipes. There are several possibilities for dishes to make with pirarucu: grilled fillet, escondidinho, moqueca, sirloin pie, fricassee, smoked salad, dumplings, pies and many others that can be served at Christmas and New Year’s dinners.

Furthermore, the campaign encourages the conscious consumption of socio-biodiversity products, highlighting the importance of supporting the conservation of the standing forest through the consumption of legal products, of guaranteed quality and that are produced and sold fairly.

This mobilization values ​​the work of forest people, bringing more environmental sustainability”,
