Pirarucu Fair takes place this weekend in Manaus

Only the fillet cut will be limited to five kilos per person
Manaus (AM) – This Saturday and Sunday, October 7th and 8th, the Fundação Amazônia Sustentável (FAS) is holding a new edition of the “Feira do Pirarucu”, with 5.2 tons of fresh pirarucu of sustainable origin available for sale.
The fillet will be sold at R$30 per kilo; the blanket at R$21 per kilo; the belly at R$ 16 per kilo; the carcass at R$7 per kilo; and the entire arapaima head at R$10 per unit. Only the fillet cut will be limited to five kilos per person.
The arapaima comes from sustainable management carried out by fishermen from the Maripulândia community, from the Mamirauá Sustainable Development Reserve (RDS), located in the municipality of Fonte Boa, in the interior of Amazonas. The sale will directly benefit 10 families in this community.
The “Pirarucu Fair” will take place from 7am to 11am, or while supplies last, at the FAS headquarters located at Rua Álvaro Braga, 351, Parque 10 de Novembro – Central-South Zone of Manaus.
